Mdf activated sawstop brake cartridge

So I was halfway through ripping this piece of mdf and the brake cartridge was activated. My hands were no where near and I couldn’t see any traces of metal in the mdf. I’ve worked in a cabinet shop for the past 3 years and have cut probably thousands of pieces of mdf, anyone else ever experience something like this?
